Sure its great to describe the environment, or what your character sees, but eventually during a back and forth dialogue, your going to run out of random extra stuff. Sometimes in a conversation, the most you have to say is one sentence at a time. And in a rp its also important to give people a chance to response to your single sentence of dialogue if it happens to be something very important. Maybe this site is opposed to back and forth dialogue between characters, i haven't been here long enough to know. Even in the middle of combat it is important to give your opponents a chance to respond, if your character is perform a very simple, unflashy move, and the stituation is already very well understood from previous posts, it just get hard to milk it into something longer. I sure what you don't want is people filling up their posts with useless junk just to meet ends. I don't think i will have much of a problem since i generally write alot, (just look at how long profile was) but i am just giving my honest opinion. Just that was enough to write more than expected for one post in an rp. And you say people would run out of random extra stuff. Well, for one, you're not just describing 'random extra stuff', you're making the post interesting and more exciting to read. Not only that, but when you describe other things around your character, that comes out as what the character sees; not just the writer. And for two, your character has thoughts, right? Put that in there. Your character obviously has to think something. When I rp with people, I like to see traces of what the other character is interested in and what they think, so I have a better understanding of how to cope with and interact with the character. But I can't do that with three sentences. :/ And your posts don't always have to be exactly 150 words, but close to that is what we're looking for. That above paragraph? 146 words. That would pass just fine for an rp post, and I didn't sweat it at all. I know I'm more advanced than some people, but really, please, why don't people just try. I used to do 3 liners minimuim, then I joined an advanced sight, and I wanted to be good, so I made myself do 4 paragraphs minimuim so I could get better, and now, 4 paragraphs, yeah right, no problem. I struggle with 10 paragraphs sometimes, and even that comes easily every now and then; I'm not talking starting a new thread either. When you do a short one and it still be perfect then you're talented it. Not that I'm saying you should work hard to make short posts, no. I'm just saying that the length doesn't necessarily affect the quality. A post can be three or four PAGES long and be utter crap. ^^ But I agree, a 150 isn't that bad. One hundred and fifty is perfectly managable for even the most mediocre rper. A short post though is 150 words, so nobody should really have a problem with it. I see your point though, as I beleive I've expressed. So this should be fun. Short posts annoy me to no end, and I love to write and read, so I'm for this rule. It'll make more room for the characters thoughts, emotions, and actions.
